Because we had two kittens to name, everyone kept asking what they were called — and we could not decide on our own.
Two kittens, no names
We adopted two kittens in July 2026. Everyone kept asking what we were going to call them. And as anyone who has ever had a pet knows: far too many ideas, no decision.
So we asked everyone
Friends and family did not all know each other: a group chat was out of the question. So I made a page where everyone suggested a pair of names and voted. No sign-up, just a link — simple and disposable, but it worked.

In five days
22 people suggested 53 pairs of names. 28 of them voted, 72 votes in total. Some suggestions were serious, others less so — "Trump & Melania" got two votes.
The winners
With six votes, Ivo and Lily won, suggested by Lidija. Then Mit & Dina, then Olaf & Frida.
And then?
It worked! So I opened it up to everyone. Anyone can now make a page and poll the people around them on their animal's name.
Why “pika”?
In Slovenian, a pika is a dot — the one at the end of a sentence. It is also a name plenty of animals over there already carry. Short, soft in any language, and it says nothing about the species: the site used to be called muce, “kittens”, which was a little narrow for a puppy.
Everyone keeps asking what your new companion is called, but you just can’t pick a name! Instead of overthinking it, invite friends and family to suggest ideas and vote. It’s easy and free!
